Money really does grow on trees in Cumbria – just ask any visitor to the woods surrounding Aira Force in the Lake District.
The money tree, or wish tree, is studded with hundreds of coins of all values and currencies.
Visitors to the area, near Ullswater, in northern England have turned a toppled tree into a coin shrine near to the famous waterfall.
The tree trunk is about 10m long and almost 1m wide.
Large stones left on top of the trunk indicate the primitive way some of the coins have been hammered home through the tree bark.

Directions to the money tree at Aira Force, Ullswater
Leave the car park through the entrance way and walk up the hill.
The path splits after about 800m. Follow the path to your left. Heading towards two large monkey puzzle trees and alongside an open grass area with seats.
You will find the money tree on your left in a clearing after a further 200m or so.
