Charity seeks help in Cumbria

February 19, 2011 by admin Leave a Comment

Cumbria Wildlife Trust is looking for volunteers from the South Lakes area to help advertise and run an event in June.

The Garden Bonanza is the Trust’s family fun day and is on Sunday 22 May 2011.

Willing volunteers are being asked to step forward to help distribute leaflets and posters, bake cakes, donate plants and to set up, man stalls and then pack away on the day.

The Garden Bonanza is an annual event that aims to attract individuals and families who are interested in finding out more about their local wildlife and have fun!

As well as having pond-dipping, mini-beast trails and garden tours, The World Owl Trust are coming along with some activities.

To ensure that this day runs as smoothly, safely and economically as possible, the Trust needs volunteers to step forward to help out.

Lucy Graham, who organises the Garden Bonanza for the Trust, said: ‘The Garden Bonanza is a brilliant, fun day but it wouldn’t be possible without the help of volunteers. This year, we have more opportunities available for volunteers to help out – for instance, individuals can help to put up posters in Ambleside, Windermere, Kendal and Grange-over-Sands (and all the areas in between), plus there are opportunities to come along on the day and help represent the Trust to our members and the general public.”

The Garden Bonanza runs from 11am to 4pm on Sunday 22 May 2011. Entry is £3.50 for adults but FREE for children. Volunteers will receive free entry.

Any expenses a volunteer incurs will be reimbursed and on the day of the event itself they will receive food and other refreshments courtesy of the Trust.

If you would like to help out with this event, please contact Lucy Graham on 01539 816300 or email lucyg@cumbriawildlifetrust.org.uk
