\"aconites_feb_290\"<\/a>The end of February has seen a very mild week with temperatures jumping from 4 to 10 degrees Celcius.<\/p>\n

Light breezes and spring sunshine have made for some very good days to go walking.<\/p>\n

Only two weeks ago, the only flowers to be seen were a sprinkling of snowdrops<\/a>, but these have now turned into huge drifts and have been the best display of snowdrops we have seen for a number of years. (We think this is due to the colder winter, or should we say, more normal winter, that we have had this year).<\/p>\n

Joining the snowdrops are the gentle nodding flowers of Crocus<\/a> and Celandine<\/a> with the first Daffodils<\/a> beginning to open in the sunlight.<\/p>\n

Catkins on the Hazel<\/a> are now joined by swelling buds promising fresh green leaves and the riverside embankment is covered in drifts of young Wild Garlic<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Even a cheeky azalea puts on an early show in a sheltered area of a park.<\/p>\n

The birds are in full voice with Thrushes fighting over territory and mates.<\/p>\n

All of these pictures were taken on a walk alongside the river Eden and up to Eden Bridge Gardens<\/a> in Carlisle.<\/p>\n
