The 5,000th plant has been added to the Royal Horticultural Society\u2019s (RHS) free and unique online service, RHS Plant Selector.<\/p>\n
The plant, Adam\u2019s laburnum (+ Laburnocytisus ‘Adamii’), is a deciduous tree and a graft-hybrid between laburnum and purple broom.<\/p>\n
It bears flowers of each separately and also some intermediate ones.<\/p>\n
The online service is an ideal source of information for anyone wanting to identify a plant growing in a British garden.<\/p>\n
It can be used to identify many garden plants and growing conditions, making it ideal for people wanting to create a wildlife garden.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have had huge interest in this service since it was relaunched for public use at the turn of last year,\u201d says Janet Cubey, RHS Chief of Horticultural Infomatics.<\/p>\n
“Now that we have more than 5,000 plants, gardeners have an even better choice and may choose to try plants that they hadn\u2019t considered before.\u201d<\/p>\n
The site sets out key selection criteria that most gardeners require, such as height, soil type, flower colour and plant type.<\/p>\n
On submitting their particular requirements gardeners are provided almost instantly with a list of plant suggestions, which they can refine by introducing further criteria.<\/p>\n
Users can also perform searches by plant name, before being guided on a plant-by-plant basis to relevant gardening advice topics from experts, as well as supplier information from the RHS Plant Finder.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
