{"id":1826,"date":"2011-05-10T11:35:57","date_gmt":"2011-05-10T10:35:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.naturearoundme.com\/contents1a\/?p=1826"},"modified":"2011-05-10T11:35:57","modified_gmt":"2011-05-10T10:35:57","slug":"volunteers-wanted-for-lake-district-clean-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.naturearoundme.com\/contents1a\/2011\/05\/volunteers-wanted-for-lake-district-clean-up\/","title":{"rendered":"Volunteers wanted for Lake District clean-up"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Lake District\u2019s biggest annual \u201cspring clean\u201d event \u2013 tidying up around the shores of Windermere and filling hundreds of bags of rubbish \u2013 is about to get even bigger this year taking in other lakes and rivers that feed into England\u2019s longest lake.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1827\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1827\" style=\"width: 203px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.naturearoundme.com\/contents1a\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/81194.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-1827\" title=\"Volunteers wanted for Lake clean-up \" src=\"http:\/\/www.naturearoundme.com\/contents1a\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/81194-203x152.jpg\" alt=\"Volunteers wanted for Lake clean-up\" width=\"203\" height=\"152\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1827\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Volunteers wanted for Lake clean-up <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>National Park Management Ranger Steve Tatlock is appealing for schools and community groups to get involved and help improve and care for the landscape and ensure the area looks its best for the onset of the peak holiday season.<\/p>\n<p>The main day-long event takes place along Windermere on Saturday 21 May, but for a week before and a week after that date Steve wants volunteers to help him widen the clean-up as far as Ambleside, Grasmere, Rydal and the Langdales.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Tatlock said: &#8220;We\u2019ll supply all the equipment, paperwork and logistical support for any group that wants to commit a little time and a lot of enthusiasm.
