{"id":1408,"date":"2010-09-13T17:27:15","date_gmt":"2010-09-13T16:27:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.naturearoundme.com\/contents1a\/?p=1408"},"modified":"2010-09-13T18:28:35","modified_gmt":"2010-09-13T17:28:35","slug":"outdoors-northumberland-festival-2010","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.naturearoundme.com\/contents1a\/2010\/09\/outdoors-northumberland-festival-2010\/","title":{"rendered":"Outdoors Northumberland Festival 2010"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Outdoors Northumberland will be showcasing Northumberland\u2019s wide array of outdoor activities this autumn during the first Outdoors Northumberland Festival.<\/p>\n<p>Running from 25th September to 17th October 2010, the festival will include a range of outdoor events provided by members of the Outdoors Northumberland network, allowing residents and visitors to get out into the great outdoors and perhaps try a new activity.<\/p>\n<p>Graham Vickers of Recreational Tourism Services and secretary of Outdoors Northumberland said: \u201cWe showcased Northumberland\u2019s outdoor offer at this year\u2019s Birmingham Outdoors Show and want to continue this momentum with the Outdoors Northumberland Festival.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Northumberland provides an unequalled outdoors playground during the summer and we hope to continue people\u2019s interest in outdoor activities beyond the end of the main season and autumn half term.<\/p>\n<h2>Cycle Challenge<\/h2>\n<p>The festival will be officially launched on the 25th September with a mass participation cycle challenge, centred in Haltwhistle, called the H100.<\/p>\n<p>The challenge will take riders over 100 hills in and around Hadrian\u2019s Wall country, but there\u2019ll also be a family oriented cycle ride on the same day for people wanting something a little less strenuous.<\/p>\n<p>Other events include<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assorted discounts for outdoor activities including <a title=\"GoApe\" href=\"http:\/\/www.goape.co.uk\/days-out-in\/northumberland\/matfen-hall\/the-course\" target=\"_blank\">GoApe<\/a>, and cycle hire.<\/li>\n<li>Board and Bike\u2019s inaugural Annual Surf-O-rama &#8211;
