{"id":1099,"date":"2010-02-16T16:42:46","date_gmt":"2010-02-16T15:42:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.naturearoundme.com\/contents1a\/?p=1099"},"modified":"2010-02-21T20:50:37","modified_gmt":"2010-02-21T19:50:37","slug":"search-for-historic-dovecotes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.naturearoundme.com\/contents1a\/2010\/02\/search-for-historic-dovecotes\/","title":{"rendered":"Search for historic dovecotes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The hunt is on for historic dovecotes in the Yorkshire Dales.<\/p>\n<p>Owners of the up-market accommodation for doves and pigeons are being asked to get in touch with the <a title=\"Yorkshire dales National Park\" href=\"http:\/\/www.yorkshiredales.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority<\/a> (YDNPA) to help in a special new conservation project.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Robert White, the Authority\u2019s Senior Conservation Archaeologist, said: \u201cDovecotes played an important part in rural life in the National Park.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThe birds they housed provided their owners with many resources, including eggs and meat for food, feathers for bedding \u2013 and even fertiliser.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1109\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1109\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.naturearoundme.com\/contents1a\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/dove_gal1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1109\" title=\"Dovecote -
