Medway is home for Med gulls
Mediterranean gulls are increasingly choosing the Medway Estuary as a place to breed the RSPB has reported. Recent surveys of the estuary identified over 200 breeding pairs of this protected bird, which accounts for over one third of the entire UK breeding population. The greatest concentrations were found on the RSPB reserve at Nor Marsh.

Sandwich Anyone? A surprise seabird spectacle …
For the first time in more than 30 years, hundreds of threatened Sandwich terns have settled to nest at RSPB Minsmere nature reserve, on the Suffolk coast, joining record numbers of gulls to provide a spectacular sight and sound for visitors.

A report published this week by the Joint Nature Conservation Committee has revealed major declines in many UK seabirds since the late 1960s.
