Humber Island restored for birds

With the help of special machinery – and a grant of nearly £50,000 – avocets have been given the best possible chance to breed again in one of their favourite spots on the Humber.

177 year wait over – First chicks for Great Bustard

For the first time since 1832, the Great Bustard – one of Europe’s most threatened birds – has nested in the UK with two females successfully hatching chicks. This milestone has been greeted with euphoria by the team striving for several years to bring back the world’s heaviest flying bird to the UK.
