A Lake District osprey born at the nest on the east side of Bassenthwaite Lake, near Keswick, two years ago has been spotted at Leighton Moss RSPB Nature Reserve, near Carnforth in Lancashire.

Landowners are being offered cash to plant more trees in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
The scheme aims to increase the area of the National Park covered by native broadleaved woodland which, in turn, will help boost wildlife habitats as well.

The Lake District Osprey Project confirmed this week that the famous fish-eating birds of prey have returned to their nest near Bassenthwaite Lake .
Staff and volunteers from the Project had been eagerly awaiting the return of the popular birds from Africa where they spend the winter months.
